Mochi Mochi :D

Yesterday ShiQi decided to make Mochi!! :) i'm chompin on the delish mochi while writin this hoho!

Head Chef of the Day : QiQi
Slaves in the kitchen  : Christy, Me! :)

The way to awesome mochi : GOOD SLAVES like me and christy!! HOHOHO!!! XD

Mochi Ingredients :

Black Bean Paste

Red Bean Paste

Glutinous Rice Flour;
 &some other flour

The steps are more or less like kids playing plastecine (how to spell? =.=") easy and fun! This is what we did :

Firsto, Ball up the pastes!! :)
Balled up black sesame paste

Balled up red bean paste
Slave's job #1

Next up, make the dough.
Mix water with the Glutinous Rice Flour
HOHO important process is handled by the mochi sifu.
Adjust the water, urhm, not too much as it'll get too runny,
not too little as it'll become hard fast.
MIX IT UP!
ZHA IT!! =P
Ended up with this white balllll.
Next, time for the fun to begin! Formation of the mochis!
Slave's Job #2
Fun and not too significant process handled by the two slaves ;)
Take dollop size of dough, make it into a round ball, and press on it to make it flat, make a "cave" in the middle, and fit the ball paste onto it :)
Envelope the paste with the dough. And make it into a balll!! it's a no brainer!
but make sure the paste is perfectly enveloped to prevent the mochi from bursting.
QUITE SIGNIFICANT PROCESS LEI! :D
Me and my mochi ball! ;)
Christy and her mochi ballball
Our work station! :D
Uncooked mochi ballls, spot the imperfectness?
CUZ NOBODY'S PERFECT ;P

add some flour to the mochis to prevent them sticking together
After that, it's time to cook the mochi in boiling water.
When it starts to float up, means it's cooked! Be Gentle, or you will accidentally hurt it and it'll burst.
cuz Mochis are as fragile as a girl's heart ;P
These are cooked, they're laddled out of the boiling water and put into cold water, to prevent them sticking together? i think. HAHA! giving them the "cold treatment"!

The mochis are cooked! After this, it's all up to creativity and personal tastes!! Can choose to coat the mochis in diff ingredients, or just eat like dat! or can even fry it! :D
Our Mochi Sifu QiQi chose to coat with Black Sesame, White Sesame, And Wheatgrass Powder. :)
